Degree Syntax

INTRODUCTION

The conversion of one sentence into another with respect to their degrees is called Degree of Comparison in a Sentence.

KINDS OF DEGREES

A) Positive: Adjectives in their base form.
      E.g Good, Beautiful, Happy, Tall etc.

B) Comparative: Adjectives, which are generally used to show comparison between two things.
      E.g. Better, More beautiful, Happier, Taller etc.

C) Superlative: Super Adjectives or when Comparison is shown from all.
    E.g Best, Most Beautiful, Happiest, Tallest etc.

SYNTATICAL TERMS FOR STRUCTURE

x → Positive Degree
y → Comparative Degree
z → Superlative Degree.
Po.→ Positive Statement
Com.→ Comparative Statement
Sp.→ Superlative Statement

Note: Comparison is always shown between two Nominatives.

STATEMENTAL SYNTATICS

  A) Positive to Comparative
  B) Comparative to Positive
  C) Comparative to Superlative
  D) Superlative to Comparative 
  E) Positive to Superlative
  F) Superlative to Positive.

POSITIVE TO COMPARATIVE

1) Po. Sb¹ + hv + as + x + as + Sb²
     Com. Sb² + hv + not + y + than + Sb¹.

2) Po. Sb¹ + hv + not + as + x + as + Sb².
    Com. Sb² + hv + y + than + Sb¹.

Note: We cannot take Sb² as obj cuz it's real form in syntax is Sb. 

COMPARATIVE TO POSITIVE

1) Com. Sb¹ + hv + y + than + Sb²
     Po. Sb² + not + as + x + as + Sb¹.

2) Com. Sb¹ + hv + not + y + than + Sb².
     Po. Sb² + hv + as + x + as + Sb¹.
                          OR
    Po. No other + Sb² + hv + as + x + as + Sb¹.


POSITIVE TO SUPERLATIVE

1) Po. Sb¹ + hv + as + x + as + Sb².
OR 
       No other + Sb¹ + hv + as + x + as + Sb².
       Com. Sb² + is + the + z
 OR 
        Sb² + is + the + z + of + all.

DEGREE SYNTATICS (Category 1)

1) Po. Sb¹ + hv + as + x + as + Sb².
2) Com. Sb² + hv + not + y + than + Sb¹.
3) Sp. Sb² + hv + the + z + of + all. 

(Category 2)

Po. No other + Sb² + hv + as + x + Sb².
Com. Sb² + hv + not + y + than + Sb¹.
Sp. Sb² + hv + the + z + of + all 

Here, we can conclude that the Subjects of comparative and superlative will remain same in position only positive's subject will change (Position)

as + π 
so + π (π= Any word, → x, always) 


EXCEPTIONAL SYNTATICS

1. Po. I + did + not + mv + Sb² + to/would 
    So + x.
    Com. Sb² + hv(be) + y + than + Sb² + mv²

2. Po. Very few + Sb¹ + hv + as + x + as + Sb².
    Sp. Sb² + hv + one of the + z + Sb¹

Syntatic Functions

INTRODUCTION →When a Subject agrees with its verb. → It can only be expressed in the form of grammatical numericals. i.e. Singular(One in Quantity) and Plural(More in Quantity).  SYNTATICAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUBJECT AND VERB → Singular Subject with Singular Verb  → Plural Subject with Plural Verb  → Rules of adding 's' is different, according to the condition of sentence. SOME SYNTATIC RULES 1) Rule of Articles ® Use of double articles with double Subjects in a Sentence with conjunction 'And' → Plural Verb. E.g. The Captain and The Falcon were good Friends. ® Use of Single Article with Double Subjects taking that Singular Article common → Singular Verb. E.g. The Falcon and Captain America is very Powerful. 2) Rule of 'And' ® If Two proper Nouns are together connect with conjunction 'And', then it is manifestly  a plural verb acting over there. E.g.
