PREDICATE
Rest of the Sentence after Subject and which defines it, is called Predicate.
Eg. He is "Guitarist".
Soma "is a Beautiful Girl".
Shero "is playing with Shoes".
Rishu "is working hard".
The Sentences under inverted Commas are showing that these Syntatical Statements are Predicate.
VERBS FOR PREDICATE
An Action Word or state of being is known as
Verb.
Types
a) Principal Verb: An action Word.
Eg. Write, Went , Going , Took, known.
b) Auxiliary Verb: State of Being.
Eg. Is, Can, Does, Had, Will etc.
Auxiliary verb is futher divided into Helping and Modal Verbs.
OBJECTS FOR PREDICATE
The Receiver of action is called Object.
Types
a) Direct Object: Answers to Whom and what.
Eg. He likes her Hairs.
Here, "Hairs" is Direct Object.
b) Indirect Object: Answers to 'For Whom' and 'to What'.
Eg. He likes her.
Here, "her" is Indirect Object.
So, Syntatical order of object in Predicate is
Hv + Mv + Ind Obj + Dr Obj.
Or
Mv + Ind Obj + Dr. Obj.
Suppose if you'll have to change the positions of Direct and indirect object then use this Syntatical Structure-
→hv + Mv + Dr Obj + to/for/of + Ind Obj.
COMPLEMENTS
Complement is use with Copular Verbs.
Copular verbs: Forms of be.
→Cop. Vb + Comp.
Eg. Soma is a Singer.
So, singer is complement.
Rishu is guitarist.
So, Guitarist is Complement.
Shero is Strong.
So, here Strong is Complement.
Types of Complement
1) Noun Complement: ends with Noun
Eg. Faizal is a Boy.
2) Adjective Complement: Ends with adjective.
Eg. Shero is soft.
3) Adverb Complement: Ends with Adverbs.
Eg. She is here.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMPLEMENT AND OBJECTS
1) Object Structures
→Hv + mv + Obj
Or
Mv + Obj.
2) Complement Structures
→ Copular Verb + Complement.
3) Both are optional and never comes together in a Sentence.
4) If hv. is used alone in a Sentence, then there will be the use of complement in that particular statement.
5) If hv + Mv or Mv alone is used there in a sentence, then you'll have to use Obj in a sentence.
