Identify Independent and Dependent Clauses


1. Soma smiled faintly as she read the letter that reminded her of a time long gone.

2. Although Swati was exhausted, she stayed up all night to finish her painting.

3. Shero, who had never missed a match, stayed home because of the sudden storm.

4. Whenever Rishu feels low, he plays the piano until his fingers tire.

5. Arham completed the project before the deadline because he knew his team depended on him.

6. While Priyanshu loves adventure, his twin brother prefers staying indoors.

7. Maaz didn’t attend the event as he had promised, which disappointed everyone.

8. Even though Soma was nervous, she delivered her speech with confidence.

9. Since Swati had prepared well, she answered all the questions with ease.

10. Rishu kept quiet, although he wanted to voice his opinion.

11. Although Soma was hesitant, Swati encouraged her to perform on stage.

12. Rishu couldn’t concentrate on the lecture because Maaz kept whispering jokes.

13. When Arham and Priyanshu work together, their creativity knows no bounds.

14. Shero helped Swati carry her books after noticing she was struggling.

15. Even though Maaz dislikes large gatherings, he attended the party for Rishu.

16. Soma was upset that Arham didn’t text her back, even after reading her message.

17. Priyanshu started painting while Shero wrote lyrics inspired by the colors.

18. After Swati left the group, Maaz took charge and led the discussion.

19. Although Shero is competitive, he celebrated Rishu’s victory with genuine joy.

20. Arham explained the solution to Soma even though she was reluctant to ask.


21. Because Maaz, Shero, and Swati forgot their assignments, the teacher gave the class extra homework.

22. If Soma had told Rishu the truth earlier, things wouldn’t have gotten so complicated.

23. While Priyanshu loves composing music, Soma prefers writing emotional lyrics.

24. Although Swati believed in herself, she still looked to Arham for reassurance.

25. Rishu, who had always trusted Maaz, couldn’t believe what he had just heard.

26. Shero stayed behind to clean the classroom while Swati and Soma went for lunch.

27. If Maaz hadn’t convinced Priyanshu, the event might have been cancelled.

28. While Arham rehearsed on stage, Rishu made final changes to the script with Soma.

29. Even though Soma and Swati disagreed initially, they found common ground through poetry.

30. Rishu, Maaz, and Priyanshu formed a team that surprised everyone with their performance.

Syntatic Functions

INTRODUCTION →When a Subject agrees with its verb. → It can only be expressed in the form of grammatical numericals. i.e. Singular(One in Quantity) and Plural(More in Quantity).  SYNTATICAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUBJECT AND VERB → Singular Subject with Singular Verb  → Plural Subject with Plural Verb  → Rules of adding 's' is different, according to the condition of sentence. SOME SYNTATIC RULES 1) Rule of Articles ® Use of double articles with double Subjects in a Sentence with conjunction 'And' → Plural Verb. E.g. The Captain and The Falcon were good Friends. ® Use of Single Article with Double Subjects taking that Singular Article common → Singular Verb. E.g. The Falcon and Captain America is very Powerful. 2) Rule of 'And' ® If Two proper Nouns are together connect with conjunction 'And', then it is manifestly  a plural verb acting over there. E.g.
